The workshop will be conducted for a period of five days.
Participating in it will allow you to gain a deep insight into the various facets of hand block printing, surface design, colour and pigment. Furthermore, the workshop will present you with the unique opportunity to delve into prime examples of traditional craftsmanship such as Dabu, Ajrakh and Batik.

Day 1

9am – 12pm

Gain a sound understanding of the heritage of craftsmanship by visiting the workshops of local artisans. Learn about their daily lifestyles, tales and histories. Take a look a the different tool and techniques utilised to create the diverse range of exceptional pieces of craftsmanship.

Visit the skillful artisan of leather, paper m ch and block printing.

Furthermore, the tour will also be inclusive of an exciting visit to a nearby village of weavers called Salawas. Here, one shall be able to gain a unique insight into making of the Punja Durrie crafts.

Day 2

9am – 12pm

Get the unique opportunity to meet the skilled craftsmen behind the intricate works of traditional art forms.

Informative sessions along with the artisans shall be conducted on traditional works of fine craftsmanship such as Ajakh, Dabu, Batik, Chintz and Sanganer.

Activities will include an exciting array of experiences which include the process behind setting up the block printing table, an introduction to the paper explorations, surface designs, tools utilised for crafting along with live demonstrations of proficient craftsmen.

Day 3

9am – 12pm

Learn the art of preparing colours & pigments while mixing binders and other items.

Get to know the art of preparing a sheet of fabric while drying it with Harda (Terminalia Chebula) dye and other different pigments.

Learn how to finalisation of blocks are made on a given day. Furthermore, gain an insight into the application process of Buta, Bulti & border explorations with paper and cloth.

Day 4

9am – 12pm

After witnessing the complete process, not it is time for you to give it a try!
The workshop gives you the opportunity to craft your very own set of blocks and create an array of magnificent surfaces. Get to learn about the final touches in the finishing techniques of the different examples of traditional craftsmanships you have already witnessed. Explore the unique art of multicolour block printing.

Day 5

9am – 12pm

Learn about the process of conceptualisation, sketching and designing of the final products crafted using the eclectic range of techniques you have learned about so far.

The opportunity to yourself create your very own personalised hand block printed fabrics will be available. You may create your own stoles, scarves, skirts, tote bags, t-shirts, stationery and other items.

Fabric will be readily available for you to work with . Assistance with stitching the fabric could also be provided at an additional tariff.

By the end of the workshop, one shall be fully accustomed with the process of block printing from its initiation upto the final touches. Moreover, the individual will get the unique opportunity to themselves craft their own personalised souvenirs based on the freshly gained insights over the past few days. They will have the opportunity to craft their own designs which shall be translated into sheets of fabric and upon request, may be stitched into a final product which is ready for usage.
